The existing Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital (CVVH) has been serving the Victoria community for over 40 years. Owned and operated by VCA Canada, the existing hospital supports the veterinary clinic and provides the only 24/7 emergency pet care in the Greater Victoria Area. As the existing facility is operating at capacity and relying on ageing infrastructure a new 3 level veterinary hospital is being constructed adjacent to the existing hospital. Evolve has been engaged in the design of all electrical, communication, and security systems.
The new hospital design provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment spaces including exam rooms, an intensive care unit, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, isolation, wet and dry rehabilitation therapy, and hospitalization facilities. The surgery suite includes specialized dental, orthopedic, and general surgery spaces.
One of the features of the new hospital is a Linear Accelerator for focused radiation cancer treatment. The new hospital will also provide significant upgrades to the existing medical imaging modalities available including, High Field MRI, CT, X-ray, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasonography.
Some of the electrical design features include:
- a generator to support the 24/7 facility operation;
- a flexible lighting control system to optimize energy efficiency in administrative and support spaces;
- an electric vehicle charging station in the new parking lot.
